Market Location

Port Royal is a town in Beaufort County, the southernmost county in South Carolina. As defined by the U.S. Census Bureau, Port Royal is included within the Beaufort Urban Cluster and the larger Hilton Head Island-Beaufort Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town is located approximately equal distance between Savannah, Georgia and Charleston, South Carolina and is contiguous with Beaufort, a coastal tourist town in Beaufort County. An island of water separates Beaufort County into north and south areas. Port Royal and Beaufort are in North Beaufort County.

Demographics

The population (2013) of Port Royal, according to city data is 11,542 up from 9,374 as reported by the 2000 Census. Largely because of annexation, the population of the Port Royal town limits has more than doubled since 2000. The Beaufort Urban Cluster offers a population of approximately 32,000 within five miles of the proposed Hotel, though the overall Beaufort County population is nearing 155,000. Beaufort County's population growth is projected to average 2.9 percent annually from 2000 through 2010. The median home value for the county falls just short of $245,000. Median household income is $62,176 within 1 mile and is projected to increase by 12% by 2012.
